Bluest Bruise – Artist Book

My handmade book Bluest Bruise was the culmination of a three-year MFA program at Maine Media College. My goal in the program was to create a unique book. I am fascinated by paper and how the printing process affects an image. I view my work as an art piece contained in the format of a book.

I had the honor of being mentored by Cig Harvey. Arielle Greenberg was my editor, and Madeleine Morlet sequenced the photographs. The book was constructed by Mathew Austin of For the Birds Trapped in Airports. Each photograph was printed by me on Canson Arches 88, a 310 GSM paper.

Five copies were made and sold. The University of Illinois Rare Book and Manuscript Department purchased one, and LACMA acquired a copy. The remaining copies were purchased by book collectors.
